I posted this on my new blog, and now I’m posting it here too.
Stop being an elitist fan. I have loved Nate Ruess since the Format. I have loved Jack since Steel Train. But that doesn’t make me any cooler or better than anyone else in the fandom. (Hell, everyone feels a little annoyed when you have known something was awesome for a while and everyone just caught on now, but that’s because you love them so much and no one cared until they were on the radio. Anyway-) Being exclusive just makes you an asshole, and it’s probably embarrassing for fun. to have fans like that. (I actually made a new blog to get away from the elitist fan drama. Because elitist fans are pricks. But really anyway-) Jail dinner is a fucking joke. Let everyone laugh with us.
Love Michelle.
P.s- I especially love the elitist fans who say they accept all the new fans, yet actually frequently label themselves better fans. It’s music. You love it, they love it, I love it, we all love it. So stop creating exclusive groups and exclusive jokes surrounded around it. Because it only creates the barriers you wish to break in the extreme hierarchical fanbase we have here. All I know is, I’m a fan. And you are too. So let’s just be fans together. New and old. Aim and Ignite and Some Nights. Thanks.
AND ANOTHER THING!: fun. always talks about growing up without a music base to define them, to feel a part of. They hope that fun. is giving those same kinds of kids something to feel a part of. How is anyone ever going to feel a part of fun. if we have elitist fans excluding them?
